SOCIAL STUFF...
AUTUMN/WINTER 2008/09

I would like to welcome you all to our social section of the website and especially to new and current members and guests who may be looking in for the first time. Once again we had a busy Spring/Summer 2008 kicking off with our annual Dinner and presentations in March at Baildon Golf Club. Our guest speaker Mike Smith who stepped in at short notice was outstanding!! Then the Charity Barn Dance in May which is now a well established event on the club Social Calendar. We also did our two backpack runs from Beckfoot to Ilkley (Via Dick Hudson’s and The Cow & Calf) in May and August. These are now very popular and will return next summer! In addition to all that there were the monthly Pub runs throughout Winter/Spring 2007/08. Many thanks for your support!

The great news from a Social perspective is that we now finally after eight years have a Social HQ at Bradford & Bingley Sports Club, Wagon Lane, Bingley. Due to the ongoing building work at our official HQ across the road at Beckfoot School the senior’s are now training at the B&BSC on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Tuesday is speed work starting at 7pm and Thursday is Pack Run at 7.30pm. There are at least two groups (Men) and one large group of ladies on a Thursday so please do not be put off. All new comers are well looked after. Thursday night tends to be the Social night and there will be a Pie & Pea Supper available every Thursday after training in the bar (including veggie option). Food will usually be served approx 9.15pm at a cost of £3.00 per person. So even if you are unable to make it in time for training, we now have a Social HQ so let’s use it!!

As we settle into the B&BSC there will not be any Pub Runs this winter and they will resume in the spring. I am however looking at putting on one presentation evening per month from November. If any members have suggestions for subjects/speakers please let me know.

That’s it for now many thanks for your continued support and have an injury free Autumn/Winter
